Christian Muchardt

Team leader at the Institut de Biologie Paris Seine (IBPS) at Sorbonne University in Paris. Ongoing work explores the synthesis, the fate, and the function of RNA-byproducts of gene-expression in human diseases, with a focus on promoter- and enhancer-RNAs, splicing products, 3'-gene extensions, and other manifestations of the so-called "Dark Genome". In this research he relies largely on genome-wide approaches and bio-informatics. In parallel, since 2020, CM serves as Deputy Scientific Director (DAS) of CNRS Biology, the life sciences department of the CNRS, in charge of “genetics and genomics”. In this role, CM holds nation-wide administrative responsibilities, managing 19 CNRS laboratories across France. From 2020 to 2024, CM was also co-director of the thematic institute on "Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics" (ITMO GGB) of AVIESAN. https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0145-4023
